More meat mommy!

Most little kids, or any kids now-a-days, are not known for eagerly trying new foods, except in our house.  Our two-year old will try just about any food, probably in part because she has a mom as a dietitian, but also because she lives in a house where we assure at least nightly to have a sit down supper.  Conversations usually are carried by my husband and I, but more and more she chimes in.  During supper, we try to have a variety of foods throughout the week.  This particular night we cooked steaks.  I would guess, most kids are not a fan of steak because 1. it isn’t shaped like a nugget or formed into a stick and 2. it requires the use of silverware.  Between my husband and I, we handled the cutting, assuring to thinly slice her little pieces of meat and offering them on her hot pink plate.  The first time we did this for a meal, she wasn’t too interested, rather going for the noodles, veggies etc.  But tonight she couldn’t get enough and devoured half my t-bone!

I guess my point to this is… try it, even steak.  Feeding kids wholesome, hearty foods is no easy task with all the processed options, but do your best.  Try something new.  Share your steak, you may be surprised how much your kids like it!
